1A Boys Finals

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Michael Williams had 25 points and Willie Nettles scored 24 to help J.F. Shields beat Saint Jude 93-to-76 and capture the Class 1-A boys state title tonight.

Nettles was named M-V-P of the Class 1-A tournament.

Jeffery Austin had 16 points for the Panthers (31-nad-3) and Damarcus Bonham had 15. The Panthers ended the game on a 22-to-7 run.

JF Shields head coach Jerome Sanders played for the 1972 JF Shields' team that won the school's first state title.

JaMychal Green led Saint Jude (25-and-11) with 27 points, Kyle Watkins added 23 and Charles Knight chipped in with 14.
