What a year the dale county warriors have had. They lost their coach Todd Horne in a tragic auto accident just before the season.
The team rallied to make the playoffs in Horne's honor. Now, it's a year later, and the guys want to go back to the post-season.
A 6-5 record last year and several key returners have the warriors dreaming big. They're chasing teams like Daleville and Slocomb in region play.
Warriors Head Coach Wesley Locke is proud of his players for staying together over the past year.
"Our kids have really matured,” Locke said. “We have some good kids. Our big thing now is discipline. We've always had discipline at Dale County High School. Our kids are becoming men. I don't only coach for the sport, I coach for the lives. I want these kids to be good daddies, good fathers, good role models and good citizens."
Dale County travels up the road to Skipperville to open the season against their rival G.W. Long.
