Providence Promises to "Run"

Let’s continue our “countdown” with a profile of the Providence Christian Eagles.

The Eagles open up against cross-town rival Houston Academy. That’s on Thursday, August 27th at Rip Hewes Stadium in Dothan.

Providence is coming off a 5-5 season. Head Coach Emory Latta has to replace four-year starting quarterback Nick Plagenhoff.

But, the Eagles plan to keep pounding away on the ground with their typical run-happy offense.

"Yeah, you know me,” Latta said. “I don't think it will be a whole lot different. But, the other thing you look for as a coach, you always want to see what the personality of your team is going to be. Just like raising children, you don't want to try to make one fit the mold of another one. It will be fun to see what the personality of this team is. But, we're not getting away from the basic stuff that we do."
