Slocomb: Shot at Revenge

By  |

Let's continue our countdown to kickoff with a look at the Slocomb Red Tops. James Wise takes over as head coach at Slocomb this season. Wise was the defensive coordinator with the red tops last season.

And, what a year it was. Slocomb got their first playoff win in six years and finished the year at 9-3.

Half of their two-headed running back monster returns this season, as Scottie Burdeshaw is back for another campaign.

Wise says despite the strong season, the team can learn a lot from their tough loss to T.R. Miller that knocked them out of the playoffs.

“They had a taste of winning, they liked it,” Wise said. “I said if you want it more, you've got to work harder. I said if you worked five times as hard to get to the top, your going to have to work ten times to stay there. A lot of them would like to have another shot at T.R. Miller in the playoffs. I'd like to have another shot at T.R. Miller. But, I think it was good for them to see what a winning program year-in and year-out expects and what they demand."
