It's that time of year that high school footballers across the state of Alabama have been waiting for, the first day of practice! Every team gets a fresh start. And, the coaches do too. Chip Harris is a new face in a new place this season. The former Northview Cougar is now running things at Ashford.
Like most coaches, jobs may switch, but the drill and the enthusiasm for the start to the year stay the same. "It's nice,” Harris said. “The guys have worked hard this summer. We've had an excellent summer as far as participation at workouts. Work ethic is going extremely well. I think like everybody else in the wiregrass, we're just fired up and ready to get going."
The Jackets were 3-6 in the last year of former Coach Lester Bratcher. Ashford opens the season at home against Houston County on Friday, August 28.
