Erdmann New AD at South Alabama

MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - South Alabama has named Joel Erdmann to replace retiring athletic director Joe Gottfried..

The 46-year-old Erdmann was introduced at the school on Sunday
afternoon after running the athletdepartment at Southeastern
Louisiana for more than two years.

Erdmann spent seven years as an athletics administrator at South
Alabama and then five years as AD at Division II North Alabama.

Southeastern Louisiana won the Southland Conference All-Sports
Trophy for men's sports in 2009. Erdmann earned his doctorate from Florida State in 1995 in sports management/athletic administration.

Gottfried announced his retirement in June after holding the post at South Alabama since 1984.

The Jaguars are set to start their first season of football in the fall.
