4A Girls South Regional Semifinals

DOTHAN, AL -- Charles Henderson exploded for 17 points in the second quarter to build a nine-point halftime lead against Clarke County in the 4A Girls South Regional Semifinals on Thursday. The Trojans needed nearly every one of those points, holding off a furious Clarke County rally down the stretch to win 49-44.

With the win, Charles Henderson advanced to face UMS-Wright for the 4A Regional Title on Saturday at 3:40 p.m. at the Dothan Civic Center. Calrke County ends the year with a 20-4 record.

Alexis Jones and Kyra Scott scored 11 points each to lead Charles Henderson (20-2). Tajianah Brundidge added 10 points for the Trojans.

Lajessica Rivers scored 14 points to lead Clarke County. The Bulldogs outscored the Trojans in the third and fourth quarters, but a six-point second period doomed Clarke County to the regional semifinal loss.

UMS-Wright - 51 Brewbaker Tech - 44

Emani Mhoon scored 16 points, including made free throws, lifting UMS-Wright past Brewbaker Tech 51-44 in a 4A South Regional Semifinal. With the win, the Bulldogs advanced to face Charles Henderson for the 4A Regional Title, Saturday at 3:20 p.m. at the Dothan Civic Center.

McKenzie Courtney added 12 points for the Bulldogs (20-11). UMS-Wright won this game at the free throw line, hitting 21-of-28 shots from the charity stripe.

Bianca Jackson scored a game-high 22 points for Brewbaker Tech (23-7).
