HOOVER, Ala. (AP) - The LSU Tigers are gearing up to try to
defend their Southeastern Conference tournament title.

The top-seeded Tigers open the tournament beginning Wednesday at
Regions Park in Hoover, Ala., against No. 8 Vanderbilt. They shared
the regular-season crown with No. 3 seed Mississippi (40-15), which
opens against No. 6 Georgia (35-20).

LSU claimed the top seed because of a regular-season series win
over the Rebels, who swept Arkansas on the regular season's final
weekend for a share of their first SEC title since 1977.

Florida (38-18) snared the No. 2 seed by winning the East
Division and opens against No. 7 Arkansas (32-20). Fourth-seeded
Alabama (37-17) faces No. 5 South Carolina.

LSU won last year's tournament title with a win over Ole Miss
and went on through and NCAA regional and super regional to the
College World Series.
