MIAMI (AP) - Former LSU receiver Demetrius Byrd is in intensive
care after a car accident in Miami, but his agent says the NFL
prospect is expected to fully recover.
Agent David Dunn says in a statement that initial reports
indicate Byrd will be OK. Byrd's injuries or any details about
yesterday's crash haven't been released.
Byrd's junior college coach, Tim Hatten of Pearl River Community
College in Mississippi, tells The Associated Press Byrd's mother
said her son was alert and talking. Hatten says Byrd is in
intensive care strictly for observation, and was stable after
suffering only scrapes and bruises.
Byrd played at Miami Central High School before attending junior
The NFL draft begins Saturday. Byrd was considered among the top
15 wide receivers available entering the draft.
