KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Former Tennessee coach Phillip Fulmer
says he's intentionally stayed under the radar in recent months as
coach Lane Kiffin took over the Volunteers program.
Fulmer was in the spotlight Saturday before Tennessee's annual Orange and White spring scrimmage game when he received the Knoxville Quarterback Club's Gen. Robert Neyland Trophy.
Speaking at a news conference before the game, Fulmer says he's been spending time with his family, pursuing hobbies and visiting college and professional football programs since 2008 season ended.
The 17-year Vols coach says he's been working to get past the university's decision to fire him last fall.
