STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) - DeWanna Bonner scored 25 points and
fifth-ranked Auburn beat Mississippi State 63-58 on Sunday, giving
the Tigers 25 wins for the first time since 1992-93.
Whitney Boddie added 18 points for Auburn.
Bonner started slow, but hit for eight straight points midway through the second half to keep Auburn close. She took over in the final minute, returning from an elbow to the head to steal the ball and drive the length of the court for a 57-55 lead. She then grabbed a rebound, was knocked to the floor and made two free throws to seal the win.
She was 11-for-12 from the free throw line with 10 rebounds. Mississippi State (19-7, 6-5) took a late 53-52 lead on Robin Porter's layup, but Auburn outscored the Bulldogs 11-5 the rest of the way.
Alexis Rack led Mississippi State with 15 points and six assists, and Porter added 13. The loss snapped the Bulldogs' three-game winning streak.
