ATLANTA (AP) - Dick Vitale says he believes his good friend Bob
Knight is interested in coaching at Georgia.
No one at Georgia is saying if the school has any interest in
Vitale, E-S-P-N's longtime college basketball analyst, said
today Georgia should make Knight, his longtime friend, an offer to
replace Dennis Felton, who was fired on Thursday.
Vitale said the Georgia job has "a lot of positives going for
it" and he added "I think he'd be interested, I really do."
Vitale also said he can't speak for the 68-year-old Knight, the
former Indiana and Texas Tech coach who also works as an analyst
for the network.
Georgia named assistant coach Pete Herrmann the interim coach
for the remainder of the season.
Knight is the all-time winningest men's major college coach with
902 victories. He won three national championships at Indiana.
