Slocomb Preps for Round 2

Just a few area teams are still alive in the state football playoffs. 17 teams from our viewing area made the post-season, but just 6 survived to Round 2.

The Slocomb Red Tops are still breathing. Slocomb rolled past Straughn last week 46-14. That game was at home. This week, Slocomb has to hit the road to Brewton to face off against T.R. Miller. The Tigers come in at 11-0 and ranked #1 in class 3A.

Slocomb Head Coach Jeff Mitchell knows Friday's game will be a challenge.

"They don't do a whole lot of fancy stuff,” Mitchell said. “But, what they do, they do real well. Their offensive line fires off the ball low and hard. Their defense is pretty small, but they're quick. They make you mess up. I just hope that our offensive line will show up this Friday night like they did this past Friday night. I think it will be a great ballgame."
