Ditka's charity helps families of veterans

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Mike Ditka is in Tampa to talk about how a charity to help retired NFL players plans to reach out to military veterans and their families, too.

The legendary player and coach has been the face of the Gridiron
Greats Assistance Fund since it was founded in 2007 to help former
players who are destitute and ill.

Ditka got to town Tuesday to publicly announce a partnership
between Gridiron Greats and U.S. Special Operations Command, which
is headquartered at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa.

Ditka says money raised by events during the upcoming Super Bowl
week in Tampa will also benefit the Special Operations Warrior
Foundation, a charity that helps the surviving families of fallen
