Steinberg Arrested

NEWPORT BEACH (AP) - Leigh Steinberg, a prominent sports agent who helped inspire the movie "Jerry Maguire," has been arrested on suspicion of being drunk in public.

Police Lt. Bill Hartford said Friday that Steinberg, 59, was taken into custody on Oct. 22 by police who got a report about a man screaming and attempting to climb a hill.

Police say officers detected a strong odor of alcohol and his speech was slurred, although no alcoholic beverages were found.

A message left for Steinberg was not immediately returned.
