BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - UAB guard Robert Vaden has been arrested
on a preliminary charge of public intoxication.

Vaden's arrest came while he was visiting friends over the
weekend in Bloomington, Ind. Athletic director Brian Mackin told
The Birmingham News that university officials were looking into the
incident and determining any actions that need to be taken.

Conference USA coaches voted Vaden the league's preseason player
of the year.

The 23-year-old Indiana transfer is on probation after getting
arrested for disorderly conduct in Birmingham last year.

Neither Vaden nor UAB coach Mike Davis were immediately
