Soccer fans in America were disappointed Friday -- but proud of their team for getting so far.
From coast to coast, fans packed bars and stadiums to watch the U.S. and Germany in the World Cup quarterfinals.
One Ohio soccer fan said the Americans' 1-0 loss "kind of let the air out of the excitement."
American fans attending the game in South Korea gave their players a standing ovation after the match. Team captain Claudio Reyna held up a U.S. flag, saluting the crowd to cheers of "USA! USA!"
American goalie Brad Friedel said, "We can go home with our heads held high."
The quarterfinal showing is America's best World Cup performance in more than 70 years.
