Giants Lost Ex-Troy Standout to Knee Injury

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) - The New York Giants have taken
another hit to their defensive line.

Former Troy standout Osi Umenyiora will undergo season-ending surgery because of a knee injury suffered in the second quarter of Saturday night's preseason loss to the New York Jets. An MRI revealed a torn lateral meniscus, leaving the Giants without their Pro Bowl defensive ends.

Michael Strahan (STRAY"-han) announced his retirement before training camp.

Umenyiora had 52 tackles and a team-high 13 sacks for the Super Bowl champs last season.
