In Florida, the guys get an extra week of practice time. The Florida high schools kickoff on September 5th.

The Chipley Tigers have a new coach this season. Former Graceville Coach Will Holley takes over at his alma mater. He's back in the area after one year in Ocala. Holley led Graceville to the state title game back in 2005.

Chipley was 6-4 last season under Dilly Webb. And, the junior varsity team was 12-1. So, it looks like Holley has some players to work with.

"I see a team. I don't see a bunch of individuals,” Holley said. “We better be a team. And, we better play hard. I like coaching guys like that. They're willing to do their jobs as a unit. As opposed to counting on one guy or two guys to do the job."

Chipley plays in a preseason game at Port Saint Joe next Friday. Then, the Tigers kickoff the regular season on September 5th. They play host to cross-county rival Vernon.
