ATLANTA (AP) - Atlanta Motor Speedway President Ed Clark has
announced a schedule change that gives the track a night race.
The Sprint Cup schedule changes to begin next year put the night race on Labor Day weekend 2009.
Officials made the announcement Tuesday in Atlanta. The schedule changes were first reported Monday.
Atlanta will get a Labor Day race now run at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif. Fontana will receive Talladega Superspeedway's fall race. Atlanta's October race will move to Talledaga, Ala.
Officials say the moves are designed to help Fontana, Calif., which has struggled with overwhelming heat during its Labor Day weekend race.
