Raiders Look to Extend Playoff Run in 2008

We've made it through the long summer, and high school football is set to kickoff in ten days. We've been getting you set for the 2008 season all month long with our countdown to kickoff. Today, the Houston Academy Raiders take center-stage.

Veteran coach Jimmy Addison is back for his second season as “head man” with the Raiders. Houston Academy started last season 5-0 before winding up with a 7-3 record after a fist round playoff loss to Pickens County.

Addison says he has a lot of players returning and has hopes of extending their run through the playoffs this time around. But, he will tinker with things just a bit.

"We're changing a few things for this year,” Addison said. “Hopefully, it will make us a better program. We certainly don't want to get put out in the first round of the playoffs as we did last year. From what I understand, that's the first time in a long time that's happened. We'd like to make it further."

Houston Academy will open the season with their first ever meeting against Providence Christian. That game will be at Northcutt Field next Thursday August 28th.
