ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) - Tampa Bay's Carl Crawford will undergo surgery on his right hand tomorrow and will be sidelined at least until the final series of the regular season -- maybe longer.
Crawford -- a two-time All-Star and four-time AL stolen base champion -- was injured on his final at-bat Saturday in Seattle. He was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Sunday.
Crawford has a problem with his right middle finger and will be sidelined six to eight weeks. Rays executive vice president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman remains hopeful that the left fielder is not done for the year.
Six weeks from tomorrow is September 25th, the day the AL East-leading Rays begin the final series of the regular season at Detroit.
