The weekend couldn't have gone any better for the Alabama baseball team. The 12th ranked Tide picked up a three game sweep over the 16th ranked Vanderbilt Commodores.
Alabama finds itself on top of the southeastern conference standings.
Tide designated hitter Alex Avila picks up the SEC freshman of the week award. Avila batted .471 last week. He had four hits and three doubles in the second game against the doors.
Alabama has a mid-week game at UAD before returning to conference play this weekend.
Alabama plays host to the Auburn Tigers in a three game series beginning Friday.
