Auburn's holds first preseason scrimmage at Jordan-Hare

AUBURN, Ala. (AP) - The Auburn Tigers held their first preseason scrimmage of fall camp at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Coach Tommy Tuberville said the Tigers ran about 100 plays. The scrimmage was closed to the public and media and no statistics were released.

Tuberville offered a mostly positive assessment of the performance of quarterbacks Kodi Burns and Chris Todd along with some young defenders.

Tuberville said neither quarterback threw an interception, but also said the two contenders for the starting job still must reach more of a comfort zone in offensive coordinator Tony Franklin's spread offense.

Tailback Brad Lester said he and Ben Tate both ran for touchdowns, and young receivers Quindarius Carr and Phillip Pierre-Louis also scored.
