Auburn Resumes Quarterback Race

AUBURN, Ala. (AP) - The Auburn quarterback competition is set to begin again.

The Tigers open practice on Saturday with Kodi Burns and Chris Todd vying for the starting job. Offensive coordinator Tony Franklin said he doesn't have a timetable for picking a winner to operate his newly implemented spread offense.

Franklin said he sees the situation as a good problem to have.

Coach Tommy Tuberville said Burns is the tentative No. 1, but that he wouldn't be surprised if Todd overtakes him. Tuberville doesn't want an either-or situation heading into the season because the quarterback's leadership is too important.

Todd said his arm has held up well as he increased his throwing regimen into the summer. He was plagued by shoulder problems during
the spring.
