The high school football season begins exactly one month from today. So, what better time to start getting you fired up. We begin a month's worth of previews... with a look at the Carroll Eagles.
Head coach Robert Johnson is back for his second year at the helm. The Eagles lost a few close ballgames last year and finished with a 4-6 record. The bad news for Johnson and the Eagles is that no starter is returning on defense. The good news is that a lot of the skill-guys are back including the quarterback and running back.
The Eagles won their last two games last season and hope to use that as momentum to start the year.
But, Johnson says, the young guys will need to step up, especially on "D".
“We’ve got a bunch of new guys out this year. We’re obviously excited about that. You always need some new blood in the football program. Hopefully, that’s going to carry over to some enthusiasm and get that defense really ready to roll.”
Carroll opens practice next Monday. The Eagles begin the season, as they play host to the Pike County Bulldogs in Ozark on August 29th.
