TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Florida State has gone west for a new women's softball coach.
The school says Nevada-Las Vegas coach Lonni Alameda will take over the program run the past 30 years by JoAnne Graf, who is returning to the classroom full-time at Florida State.
After one season at an NAIA school, Alameda transferred in 1989 to Oklahoma where she played softball and volleyball for the Sooners. She was a two-time All-Big Eight selection as a first and third baseman.
Alameda, who spent eight years as an assistant at Stanford before going to UNLV, was named Mountain West Conference Coach of the Year in 2005 and 2007.
