LAS VEGAS (AP) - It's the opening day of training camp for the U.S. men's basketball team as it continues to prepare for next month's Olympic tournament.
The core of the squad has worked together the past two summers and is way ahead of the 2004 Olympic team.
Those players were together for only 20 days before being routed by Puerto Rico in their opening game in Athens. And they lost twice more before leaving Greece with a bronze medal.
The starting five for Beijing is already set. Coach Mike Krzyzewski will send out Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Dwight Howard and Jason Kidd for the tip-off of the opener against China.
