Left-handed pitcher Tyler Stovall, a second-round draft pick from Hokes Bluff, has signed with the Atlanta Braves for $750,000.

He says his six-year contract, signed Friday, approached
$800,000 when taking into account his college plan.

Stovall says it's definitely a weight off his chest.

He heads for Orlando next Saturday to play in the Gulf Coast
League with other rookies.

With a 94 mph fastball, Stovall ended a standout career with
Hokes Bluff this past season. He guided the Eagles to their sixth
consecutive prep baseball title and later was named Mr. Baseball by
Alabama sportswriters, among other honors.
