Alabama's Hendrix to stay in draft

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Alabama forward Richard Hendrix won't return for his senior season.

The player's father and coach Mark Gottfried said Monday that Hendrix will remain in the NBA draft. Hendrix could have pulled his name out and returned to school because he had yet to sign with an agent.

Venard Hendrix said his son is following through with an earlier decision to enter the draft.

Gottfried said he will support Hendrix and that the player always represented Alabama with class.

Hendrix was the Crimson Tide's leading scorer and rebounder last season.

Teammate Ron Steele has not announced whether he will remain at Alabama or skip his senior season.
