UNDATED (AP) - University of Alabama football signee Destin Hood is among the state players who could be taken early in the amateur baseball draft.
Also among those hoping to go early in Thursday's draft are Auburn baseball signee Tyler Stovall and Auburn outfielder Mike Bianucci.
Hood plays for St. Paul's in Mobile and is regarded as the state's top prospect. He is also a highly regarded wide receiver.
Stovall is a left-handed pitcher who was named Alabama's Mr. Baseball.
The Crimson Tide baseball team's best bets to go early appear to be junior catcher Alex Avila or pitcher Miers Quigley.
