Five men are charged with murder for the fatal beating of a University of Florida student.
Numerous onlookers saw the beating of 23-year-old Thomas Brown
on Saturday night in Jacksonville. The Jacksonville Sheriff's office says Brown was held down by three men and beaten by two others.
Authorities say he wasn't breathing and had no pulse when rescue personnel arrived. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Charged are 21-year-old Jeremy Lane, 21-year-old Alex Canzano, 19-year-old Casey Schuurman, 18-year-old Mark Foss, all of Jacksonville, and 19-year-old Jeffery Groncziak of Ponte Vedra Beach.
Police say they don't know the reason for the beating.
Brown was in Jacksonville for Saturday's game between rivals Georgia and Florida. The annual game is known as the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party.
It's not known if any of the five men had a lawyer.
