Vanderbilt beats Florida 7-3 in SEC tournament

HOOVER, Ala. (AP) - Vanderbilt hit 14 singles to grind out a 7-3 victory over Florida in the first round of the Southeastern Conference baseball tournament.

The victory snapped the Commodores' five-game losing streak. Vanderbilt (38-18) had closed the regular season by being swept in a three-game series against the Gators (34-21).

Leading the Commodores were Andrew Giobbi and Steven Liddle, who both went 3-for-5 with an RBI. Jonathan White and Dominic de la Osa had two hits each and David Macias had two RBI on a hit and a sacrifice fly.

Vanderbilt put at least one man on base in each of the first six innings to build a 6-1 lead off Florida starter Patrick Keating (8-1).
