Alabama shuts out SE Louisiana

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Miers Quigley pitched seven scoreless innings to lead Alabama to a 7-0 win over Southeastern Louisiana last night.

Quigley (4-1) allowed six hits and struck out three for the Crimson Tide (19-15). Austin Evans gave up one hit and had two strikeouts in two innings of relief.

Alabama took a 2-0 lead in the third inning when Jake Smith scored on a fly out by Josh Rutledge and Ross Wilson added an RBI single. Matt Bentley had a run-scoring double in the fifth and Alex Kubal drove in a run on a single in the following inning to give the Crimson Tide a 5-0 lead.

In the eighth, Alabama scored three more runs. Tyler Odle had an RBI single ad later stole home, and Brandon May drove in Rutledge on a double.

Southeastern Louisiana drops to 16-14. Phil White (0-1) took the loss.
