Alabama Beats Mississippi Valley State

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Brandon May had four RBIs and Josh Rutledge drove in three runs to lead Alabama to a 12-4 win over Mississippi Valley State last night.

The Crimson Tide (18-15) took a 5-0 lead in the fourth inning on Rutledge's two-run double and a run-scoring single by May. Tyler Odle, who scored five runs, had a solo homer in the third inning and Ryan Rhoden had an RBI single in the first.

The Delta Devils (13-13) scored two runs each in the fifth and sixth inning. But Alabama, which finished with 18 hits, added seven more runs over the next four innings.

Jimmy Nelson (1-2) allowed four runs - two earned - and two hits in 5 1-3 innings for the Crimson Tide. Conner Hoehn pitched 2 2-3 scoreless innings in relief, giving up one hit with six strikeouts.

Brandon Dotson (0-2) took the loss.
