Alabama 12, Jacksonville St. 6

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Kent Matthes went 2-for-3 with five RBI to lead Alabama to a 12-6 win over Jacksonville State Tuesday night.

Alabama (12-11) and Jacksonville State (9-13) used a combined six pitchers and the team's combined for 19 walks, eight wild pitches, five errors and one hit batter in the 3 1/2 hour game. The teams also turned five double plays, including four by Alabama.

Nathan Kilcrease (2-0) earned the win with five scoreless innings of relief and allowed five hits and struck out one.

JSU starter Justin King (1-2), who originally signed with Alabama, gave up six runs and two hits in two-plus innings. He also walked five batters.
