TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Robert Phares pitched Alabama to a 10-3 series-clinching win over Vanderbilt.
Phares (1-1) held Vanderbilt (14-6, 3-3 Southeastern Conference)
to three runs and four hits in 7 2/3 innings, with five strikeouts and one walk in his third start of the season.
Alabama (11-11, 2-4 SEC) moved to within one game of first place in the SEC Western Division.
Vandy starter Taylor Hill (1-1) worked four innings and allowed seven runs and five hits, with three strikeouts and one walk in his first career SEC start.
