Alabama Football Coaches Awarded Pay Hikes

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Assistant football coaches at the University of Alabama have received pay increases ranging from $10,000 to $50,000.

UA Trustees approved the new salaries Thursday for members of Nick Saban's staff.

The $50,000 raise was awarded to Kirby Smart, who was promoted from secondary coach to defensive coordinator. Trustees also okayed a three-year contract, with a $325,000 salary, for Jim McElwain as offensive coordinator.

Newly hired Bobby Williams, the tight ends and special teams coach, will be paid $290,000. Crimson Tide assistants will be among the highest-paid in the Southeastern Conference.
