The Dothan Dixie Boys All-Star baseball team is state bound. The 14-year-old age group went to Rroy last weekend and won the district, earning them a shot at a state title in Piedmont.
But as of now they're looking for some help to get there. The boys are raising money to help with expenses like hotel, gas and food. They held a fundraiser Tuesday at Red Elephant and bagged groceries Wednesday and will use any donations to help fund the trip.
This is a big deal for them, and they know any donation can help get them to piedmont and a shot at state.
"It's going to be rewarding because not only do you have to work on the field, you've got to work off the field, you know, to make this stuff right here successful so it's going to be real rewarding and it's going to go a long ways for us having fun off the field," head coach Ken Holland said.
The first game for the all-stars is this Friday. If you'd like more information on how you can donate, call coach Holland at 334-648-3594.
