TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Richard Hendrix scored 20 points as Alabama took over the game late in the first half and defeated Auburn 97-to-77 Saturday.
Alabama (12-8, 1-4) had five players score in double figures as the Crimson Tide picked up its first Southeastern Conference win after starting oh-and-4 in the league.
The Alabama win broke a two-game Auburn winning streak in the in-state rivalry. The Tigers are now 12-and-6 overall and 2-and-3 in the SEC.
Hendrix was 8-of-11 from the field to lead a hot Alabama team that shot 54 percent from the field.
Brandon Hollinger had 18 points on six 3-pointers for Alabama, while Alonzo Gee and freshman point guard Rico Pickett each had 17 and Mykal Riley 16.
Alabama took over the game with a little over 9 minutes remaining in the half and went on a 20-to-2 run while holding Auburn scoreless for more than 5 minutes.
Auburn was led by Quan Prowell with 22 points. Rasheem Barrett had 20 and Quantez Robertson followed with 10 for the Tigers.
The closest Auburn could get late in the game was 15 points at 90-to-75 with just under 2 minutes left to play.
