Monroe Scores 24 Points as Florida Atlantic Defeats Troy 93-88

BOCA RATON, Fla. (AP) - Carlos Monroe scored 24 points to help Florida Atlantic defeat Troy 93-88 Saturday night.

Florida Atlantic (5-12, 1-5 Sun Belt Conference) took a 14-8 lead on a Monroe lay-up with 15:25 in the first half.

A 7-to-none Florida Atlantic run late in the first half pushed the lead to 32-22. Troy responded and took a 38-36 lead and the teams were tied at 41 at the break.

Florida Atlantic started the second half on a 7-2 break to take a 48-43 advantage. Troy (8-8, 1-4) then regained the lead 54-51.

Jeff Parmer's three point play tied the game at 54. Two straight Justin Jonus jumpers gave Troy a four point lead. Monroe then scored seven of Florida Atlantic's next nine points to put his team ahead 63-61.

O'Darien Bassett's three-pointer made the score 81-79 with 1:40 left. Monroe then scored four of the next five points to make it 86-79.
