ASHFORD, Ala. - The Ashford Yellowjackets like intensity at every football practice.
They set the tone on the first day.
Thursday, August 4th, is the first day teams in Alabama are allowed to practice in full pads, and the Yellowjackets hit the field in the first available seconds.
It's a relatively new thing they call "Midnight Madness", and for the second year in a row it has been the official kick-off to full pads practice in Ashford.
"Midnight madness is something fun that we started," Ashford Head Coach Chip Harris said. "It's a lot of hard-hitting, head-knocking, and we call it a power-packed hour and a half. We just try to get a good sore, that first practice in pads to be a fun one, a little something different. The kids love it. They have really latched on to it. It's something they look forward to every year."
