TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - It took Florida State's Bobby Bowden most of his coaching career to catch Joe Paterno in wins.
And while Bowden now holds a two-game lead (373 to 371) over the Penn State coach, there is speculation Florida State could be forced to forfeit some of its seven wins this season if the team used ineligible players in those games.
Bowden says he doesn't think that is possible, adding that they never "intentionally" played play an ineligible player.
Bowden and his coaches are reconstructing a team that will leave next week for the Music City Bowl in Nashville without roughly two dozen of his players for their New Year's Eve game against Kentucky in a matchup of teams with 7-5 records.
What's left of the Seminoles will practice tomorrow and Saturday before breaking for Christmas.
