Back in Rankings, No. 25 Auburn Resumes Iron Bowl Work

AUBURN, Ala. (AP) - The Auburn Tigers had a productive week. They rested, got to hear about their arch rival enduring an agonizing loss and even resurfaced in the national rankings.

No. 25 Auburn didn't even have to play a game to manage all that.

The Tigers (7-4, 4-3 Southeastern Conference) resume preparation for the Iron Bowl tomorrow after an open date to recuperate from a humbling defeat of their own, 45-20 against Georgia.

Coach Tommy Tuberville says he didn't have any added work to get his players' attention after the Crimson Tide (6-5, 4-3) fell 21-14 to Louisiana-Monroe.

The team knows the importance of the Iron Bowl, says Tuberville, "not only to them and their school but also to the fans and the alumni."

The week off gave Auburn a chance to get healthy.

Tuberville says linebacker Craig Stevens will play in the game, though his injured ankle might not be 100 percent.

The only uncertainty is whether return man/tailback Tristan Davis would finally be able to return from a foot injury.
