TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Crimson Tide tailback Terry Grant said he doesn't see a sulking, dejected John Parker Wilson on the sidelines even when the Alabama quarterback has just made a devastating mistake.
It has happened a few times in the Crimson Tide's past two games, and Wilson can usually be found consulting with offensive coordinator Major Applewhite via phone from the press box.
Wilson has had a rough couple of weeks even if he doesn't show it publicly. He's made costly blunders in losses to LSU and Mississippi State. He should have an easier time of it Saturday when the Tide (6-4) hosts Louisiana-Monroe (4-6).
Wilson's fumble at the Tide's 3-yard line set up LSU's winning touchdown in the final minutes.
His pick in the end zone against Mississippi State was returned the distance for a TD just before the half when Alabama seemed poised to score. And a second one set up another State touchdown after a long return.
The plays are painfully burned in the psyches of Alabama fans, if not Wilson's. His attitude: Don't sweat it, because a quarterback can't afford to let his focus and confidence slip.
