Auburn coaches have deep ties to UGA

AUBURN, Ala. (AP) - Even Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville steers clear of offensive line coach Hugh Nall during the week of the Georgia game.

Tuberville said Nall is intense for other games but goes "off the charts" for this one.

There's a good reason for that. Nall played for Vince Dooley at Georgia from 1977-80 and was part of the national championship team as a senior.

He has fond memories of the Bulldogs rivalry with Auburn entering Saturday's visit to Athens, Georgia.

Nall said it was a heated game every year. He compated it to two brothers fighting.

Even moreso because of all the coaching ties. Auburn defensive coordinator Will Muschamp played for Georgia and tight ends coach Steve Ensminger is a former Bulldogs assistant.

Former Auburn players Rodney Garner and Stacy Searels are on Georgia's staff.
