BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Alabama sophomore Javier Arenas was named Special Teams Player of the Week after the Crimson Tide's victory over Ole Miss Saturday.
Arenas had one of the best games of his career in the win over the Rebels, the Tide's fifth victory of the season.
He returned two punts for 71 yards in the game, including a key play in the fourth quarter. Arenas also set up the Tide's game-tying drive that culminated in Terry Grant's 3-yard touchdown run.
The Tampa, Florida native ranks second in the SEC and is 12th nationally in punt return average with a 16.2 yard per return mark.
Senior wide receiver DJ Hall was also mentioned by the league in its "Other Outstanding Performances" list. Hall had 11 catches, tying a career high, for 140 yards in the win over Ole Miss. It was the fourth time in his career that Hall has logged 10 or more receptions in a game, setting a school record.
The Tide faces Number 20 Tennessee in Tuscaloosa on Saturday at 11:34 a.m. Central Time.
