BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - University of Alabama defensive lineman Wallace Gilberry has been named the Southeastern Conference defensive lineman of the week.
The senior from Bay Minette recorded a career-high 11 tackles, including nine solo stops and two sacks in Saturday's 30-24 win over Houston.
The weekly offensive lineman of the week honors went to Auburn guard Tyronne Green.
The junior from Pensacola, Florida, helped pave the way for the Tigers offense to amass more than 400 yards in their 35-7 victory over Vanderbilt.
The other players of the week for the SEC are LSU running back Jacob Hester, Tennessee punter and placekicker Britton Colquitt and South Carolina defensive end Eric Norwood. South Carolina quarterback and Tuscaloosa native Chris Smelley was named SEC freshman of the week.
