CHENEY, Wash. (AP) - Don't adjust the color on your set -- the
field is supposed to be red. The Eagles of Eastern Washington
University are now practicing on their unique red football field.
School officials say theirs is the only red field in the country.
The artificial turf was installed over the summer to gain some
attention for the EWU football program. Running back Taiwan Jones
says he likes the way the turf feels, even if he isn't commenting
on the color. The school is also experimenting with red uniforms.
But the coaches say a red uniform on red turf might make it hard to
see the receivers. The Eagles will play their first game on red, in
the home opener against Montana September 18.
