BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Auburn cornerback Jerraud Powers and placekicker Wes Byrum and Georgia tailback Thomas Brown earned Southeastern Conference player of the week honors.
Powers was the top defensive player after making a career-high nine tackles and recording a pass deflection in Auburn's 20-17 upset at Florida. The Tigers held the SEC's top-ranked total and scoring offensive team to 205 yards and 32 points below the Gators' season averages.
Byrum hit the game-winning 43-yard field goal as time expired against Florida and also hit a 30-yarder in the third quarter for a 17-3 lead to win special teams honors.
Brown rushed for career highs of 180 yards and three touchdowns on 16 carries in Georgia's 45-17 win over Mississippi to receive the offensive award.
Kentucky tackle Garry Williams was the offensive lineman of the week while Arkansas end Damario Ambrose claimed the defensive line award.
South Carolina quarterback and Tuscaloosa native Chris Smelley was the freshman of the week.
